Spaces of Work and Resistance

The 45th International Labour Process Conference (ILPC) will be held at the University of Cádiz, in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, from 31 March to 2 April 2027.

Under the theme Spaces of Work and Resistance, the conference will bring together researchers from different disciplines to discuss contemporary transformations in work, employment and capitalist political economy. The ILPC is one of the leading international forums for critical research on labour and the labour process.

The 2027 conference will provide a space to examine how changing economic, technological, organisational and social conditions are reshaping work and workers’ experiences, as well as the different forms of resistance and collective action emerging in response to these transformations.

Alongside the general conference, a number of special streams will address key contemporary issues in labour research, including artificial intelligence and the reconfiguration of professional work, inequalities and the labour process, ageing and occupational change, sustainability and labour organisations, labour migration and transformations in labour mediation, and platform labour in the Global South.

The International Labour Process Conference has developed over more than four decades as an interdisciplinary forum for researchers working on labour, employment relations, workplace organisation and political economy. Its annual conference promotes critical debate and international exchange on the transformations affecting work and employment.

The 2027 organising team at the University of Cádiz includes Beltran Roca, Eva Bermúdez, Simone Castellani, Nazaret Castro, Irene López García, Maria Antonia Ribón, Pedro Salguero and Juan Antonio Roa-Domínguez.
