The 17th Conference of the European Sociological Association (ESA) will be held in Warsaw, Poland, from 25 to 28 August 2026.

The ESA Conference is one of the major international gatherings for sociologists in Europe, bringing together researchers from across the continent and beyond to discuss current developments in sociological research and contemporary social challenges.

The 2026 conference will address key debates around democracy, social action, solidarity and sustainable futures, providing a space to examine the profound social, political and economic transformations affecting European societies.

The scientific programme will cover a broad range of sociological fields through ESA’s Research Networks, Research Streams, Joint Sessions, Semi-Plenaries and plenary sessions. These spaces will promote dialogue across different areas of sociological research and encourage comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Among its 38 Research Networks, several are particularly relevant to research on work, employment, organisations, inequalities, social policy and economic sociology, offering opportunities to discuss current transformations in labour markets and employment relations within broader processes of social change.

The conference will take place entirely on-site. Abstracts submitted to Research Networks, Joint Sessions, Research Streams and selected Semi-Plenaries will be peer-reviewed as part of the scientific programme.
