Labour trajectories and personal networks: a longitudinal analysis in youth population (2018)

This doctoral thesis entitled “Labour trajectories and personal networks: a longitudinal analysis in youth population” has as its main objective the study of the work trajectories of young people and their social networks, understood as a resource for labour integration or advancement in the job market. What is examined here is the relationship between the structure and composition of personal networks, the social support obtained from these networks and their interrelationship with the trajectory developed in the labour market. The research is focused on young people from 20 to 34 years of age in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. The present investigation is framed within the current debate in western societies on life trajectories, characterized by a greater variety and plurality, and by the erosion of standardized patterns in favour of more diverse and individualized biographical itineraries.
