Knowledge Transfer
This section encompasses a very broad range of activities resulting from mutually beneficial collaborations between universities, businesses and the public sector.
In our discipline, sociology, knowledge transfer is about the transfer of intangible, intellectual property and expertise, between academia and the non-academic community. It’s a form of return to society aiming at enhancing economic growth, living conditions and social wellbeing.

Time Use Week – Time and (Ine)qualities is the international meeting in time politics. Held between 24 and 28 October in Barcelona, this ninth edition has been dedicated to promoting good practices and knowledge in the politics of the time. During the event, political institutions, seekers in the field, social agents and international citizens participate.

The VI Ibero-American Summit on Local Gender Agendas is convened by the Ibero-American Union of Municipalists and co-organized by the United Nations entity dedicated to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women – UN Women, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM-OAS).
Sara Moreno participated in the Master Conference “Care in the key of local governance”.

Conference organized by the Centre d’Orientació i Emprenedoria de Catalunya (COE-CAT) focused on guidance and labor intermediation, with emphasis on current transformations. The keynote speech focused on the key role of guidance and labor intermediation in improving the effectiveness of Public Employment Services and the round table on good innovative practices in career guidance.

Event organized by the Labor Relations Council took place at the headquarters of the Labor, Economic and Social Council of Catalonia, CTESC, with the triple aim of reflecting on the uses of time in the current context; to present the monograph on the impact of COVID-19 on these uses of the times and to disseminate the guidelines of the Council agreement “10 objectives for collective bargaining”.

Sara Moreno is the scientific coordinator of the palau macaya debate cycle.
The cycle raises the main topic of debate in relation to the persistence of gender inequalities in the 21st century. The aim is to delve into the explanation of the gap between formal and effective equality in order to identify future challenges. It is proposed to address the discussion of the agreement with the three dimensions that Nancy Fraser defines in relation to the concept of social justice: redistribution, recognition and representation.

A critical view of the aftermath of the female market: ERTO, layoffs, teleworking and conciliation, and the unequal distribution within the home of care and domestic care tasks.
Organized by Unidad de Igualdad de la UVic and the Technical Office of Gender Equality and LGTBI of the City of Vic, it has kicked off the set of activities organized by the UVic around the 25N, International Day against Gender Violence. The round table was presented by Dr Anna Sabata i Aliberch, secretary general of the UVic-UCC, and the speakers Sara Moreno, professor of the Department of Sociology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and researcher of the Center for Sociological Studies of Everyday Life and Work, and María Solanas, director of programs of the Royal Elcano Institute and second vice-president of the Spanish Committee of UNICEF and member of the Mediterranean Network of Women Mediators.

El principal objetivo de la jornada ha sido promover y sensibilizar a la sociedad sobre los beneficios de la conciliación corresponsable y equitativa de la vida personal, familiar y laboral y avanzar en un reparto equitativo del tiempo que favorezca una responsabilidad real. Teresa Torns, Licenciada y Doctora en Sociología por la Universidad de Deusto y Profesora jubilada de Departamento de Sociología de la Universitat Autonómica de Barcelona (UAB) nos habló de la necesidad de establecer políticas del tiempo: de trabajo, de cuidado, de ocio y de desarrollo personal para avanzar en conciliación. Teresa nos ha hablado del enfoque del tiempo, del uso y dedicación que le damos a enfoques productivos y de ocio y de las diferencias entre mujeres y hombres. Mujeres y hombres lo percibimos de forma distinta porque la dedicación es todavía diferente.
Nos ha dado pocos datos, pero los que nos ha dado son demoledores. Esas 500 horas más que las mujeres destinan a cuidados respecto a los hombres nos deberían hacer pensar mucho, nos ha hablado de la generación sándwich y de cómo el tiempo atrapa más a las mujeres que a los hombres.
