Abstract: The Spanish labor market is characterized by its large number of temporary contracts. However, few investigations have analyzed the effect of this labor instability from a longitudinal perspective. UAB researchers have studied how this instability has a continued effect over time, which has even produced permanently precarious employment trajectories. They have also identified the groups that suffer most from these kinds of trajectories as well as the main factors that lead to them. They have concluded that gender, age and educational level are among the most important variables in determining the likelihood of precarious careers, which are becoming more common among larger groups of the working population.
