Abstract: In Spain, where workers do not need to be members to obtain the benefits of collective bargaining, one of the main problems affecting trade unions is the retention of their members. A study has carried out a survival analysis for Comisiones Obreras, and has observed a plurality of situations, as well as an increase in the intensity of short-term membership, linked to temporary contracts and workers in companies without affiliated colleagues, situations that particularly affect young people, immigrants and workers in specific sectors.
