The thesis studies the concept of care through perspectives of sociology of work and gender. It aims at analysing the employment in the care sector in order to explain the causes of the care work precariousness in Spain. In other words the thesis looks into the elements that are shaping this employment. To achieve the goal this study sets the analysis of the structural framework where the care employment is modulated. It means that we take care of employment (market) sphere and its relation with other social institutions as family or state. The study also highlights the importance of the historical, political, economic and social framework.
