Álvaro Fernández Junquera
Pre-doctoral fellow (FPU)
Álvaro holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Granada (2019), studying an academic year at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. As undergraduate student, he specialised in public policies and political theory. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Granada (2020), in which he took courses in econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomics.
From an interdisciplinary background in social sciences, he has focused his research on the different public policies that could cope with the unemployment problem. Currently, he writes his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professor Óscar Molina Romo with a FPU contract funded by the Ministry of Universities of Spain

Areas of specialization
His research interests lie between the sociology of work and labour economics. On the one hand, he focuses on public policy evaluation, attitudes and perceptions on jobseekers and active labour market policies. His doctoral thesis deals with the effectiveness of professional counselling programs in public employment services of Andalusia. On the other hand, he is specializing in inter-industrial analysis with input-output data and social accounting matrices. His master thesis studied the employment effect of different expansive fiscal policies against COVID-19 crisis.
