Alejandro González Heras
Graduate in Sociology from Rey Juan Carlos University (2010–2014). Master’s Degree in Social Research Methods: Innovations and Applications from Complutense University of Madrid (2014–2017).
PhD in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where he defended his dissertation titled “The Mobilisation of Social Capital in Unstable Employment Trajectories” under the supervision of Joan Miquel Verd Pericàs (2020–2024).
For two years, he worked as a freelance researcher on various projects, mainly within the field of programme evaluation, collaborating in small teams (2015–2017). He then spent nearly three years at a multinational market research company (2017–2020).
In the academic field, he carried out his doctoral research as a predoctoral FI (AGAUR) researcher at the Sociological Research Centre on Everyday Life and Work (QUIT) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), within the framework of the project “The accumulation and use of social capital in young people with unstable employment trajectories. Also the Mateo effect? – CAPSINES (CSO2016-77905-P), complementing his training with international research stays at various universities (University of Lausanne, University of Picardy Jules Verne, and University of Toulouse – Jean Jaurès).
He has taken part in research projects on youth and the labour market with QUIT, notably contributing to the analysis of the 2022 Catalan Youth Survey and the development of two training courses on longitudinal research linked to this survey. The first was the 3rd COORDINATE Summer School: Introduction to Life Course Research and Sequence Analysis, held from 17 to 21 June 2024, within the framework of the European project (COhort cOmmunity Research and Development Infrastructure Network for Access Throughout Europe y con la colaboración de la Agència Catalana de la Joventut). The second was the Introductory Course on Sequence Analysis Using the Catalan Youth Survey (Curs introductori a l’anàlisi de seqüències amb l’Enquesta a la joventut de Catalunya), held from 27 to 31 January 2025 in Barcelona, at the initiative of the Catalan Youth Agency.
Currently collaborating on teaching and research activities with various institutions.
