Cristina Álvarez Jorba
Research support technician
She holds a BSc in Sociology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2025). She had an internship at the GENERA project on changes, resistances and continuities in time uses with a gender perspective, and another one at the Terra enganxós project on the feminization of horizontal segregation in the labor market. Moreover, her final dissertation analyzed the power relation born from the gendered interactions between the TikTok algorithm and its users.

Research interests
She’s interested in studying the impact of algorithms, artificial intelligence and communications technology on everyday life and social structures, with a special emphasis on gender relations. She works primarily with a mixed-methods approach, but she specializes in quantitative and digital research techniques.
